Taking the Gold Road: Designing the Reporting Suite for Gold Road Resources 

Gold Road Resources engaged The Brand Foundry to design their 2023 annual reporting suite. This included their Annual Report, Sustainability Report and Corporate Governance Statement. Discover the creative journey we embarked on to deliver this corporate collateral and successfully communicate the Gold Road narrative.

The Gold Road Standard

Gold Road is a mid-tier Australian gold producer and explorer with Tier 1 mine and exploration projects across Western Australia, South Australia and Queensland. Gold Road owns 50% of the world-class Gruyere gold mine, which was developed in joint venture with Gold Fields Ltd and produced first gold in June 2019. As one of Australia’s largest and most cost-efficient gold mining operations, the Gruyere JV sources all its ore from a single open pit mine, projecting a mine life extending to 2032. 

At the core of Gold Road Resources, is the dedication to enhancing shareholder value through exemplary operational performance, pioneering gold discoveries, and strategic corporate development. They have a strong commitment to their ESG responsibilities and work closely with local communities to ensure positive social and economic outcomes, whilst maintaining the highest standards of corporate governance.

The Creative Direction

The client envisioned a theme that was consistent with the previous reporting collateral designed by the Brand Foundry in 2022, and reflected their current production stage and its progress. Driven by this creative freedom, our designers strategised how best to represent Gold Road’s belief in corporate governance to create a culture that values integrity and ethical behaviour – whilst staying true to their core brand elements. The result was an artistic visual direction.

The Design Approach

Integrating Gold Road’s impressive suite of photographs, a colour palette of dark, earthy tones with striking blue skies and landscapes, our designers were able to establish a window into their mining operations and communicate their core brand identity. The strategic layering of elements and framing used throughout the report is powerful in visually elevating the audience’s experience and increasing engagement. Photographs of their teams in the field juxtaposed with imagery of the grandeur of the landscapes they work with, offers insight into the heart of their brand and their responsibility to their people and the environment. Putting faces to the organisation and reinforcing their commitment to sustainability has an impactful influence on stakeholders, who are able to see these efforts with their own eyes.

Our design strategy successfully interwove compelling visuals that were able to resonate with the audience. The modern effects, captivating colours and image treatments worked to reflect Gold Roads resilience, innovation and integrity.
