Is it time to redesign your website?

What signs do you need to look out for to know it’s the right time.

Websites are a vital touchpoint of any business. They are often the first exposure someone will have to your business and for this reason they are a crucial part of any marketing toolkit.

Since your website is a living story about your business, it is important to keep the story, and your website, up to date. But how do you know when it is time to go one step further and redesign your website?

This article will uncover some signs to keep an eye out for to know when it is time to consider a website redesign.

1. Outdated look and feel

The most obvious reason would be if you have recently rebranded, or are looking to rebrand, your business and the look and feel of the website no longer tells the correct story about your business. In this case it will be good to align your website to your business’s new look and feel.

2. Your website is not mobile-friendly

At The Brand Foundry, our clients have reported that as much as 80% of their web traffic comes from mobile with only 20% coming from desktop. Where are most of your potential customers viewing your website from? It is important to reach them where they are, and if the user experience on mobile is inferior to that of a desktop, it is time to redesign.

3. Poor user experience.

As business owners or stakeholders, you would have viewed your website so many times so your opinion of its user experience is most likely subjective. We suggest looking at your website through the eyes of a potential customer.

What is your target consumer/ customer looking for? Is the content easy to find and navigate? Do all the links work effectively? These are all questions you should be asking yourself and if the answer is ‘no’, it is time to amend the website design.

4. Your website is not working for you.

Not only does your website need to work for your potential customers but it, too, needs to work for your business. Your website forms part of your marketing toolkit and, like any other marketing tool, it should have business objectives linked to it. This could be anything from number of page visits, to driving leads, to conversion to purchase. If these objectives are not being achieved, your website is not effectively serving your business and it might be time to make some changes.

If you feel this article resonates with you and reflects the state of your business’s current website, it is time to invest in the redesign of your website to ensure you have the best marketing tool possible.
